New Label, Same Smokey Taste - Share It Music

We’re on a new label

Big news in the Smokeyverse! We’re partnering with an incredible new label, Share It Music. The entire Smokey Brights catalog is moving to Share It, with sync and distribution from Seattle’s iconic Sub Pop Records!

Smokeys are thrilled to join the killer Share It Music roster, a label whose ethos of community and caring aligns so closely with ours. The labels’ model gives a portion of proceeds to a nonprofit community organization of the artist’s choosing, and we’ve selected
The Vera Project - Seattle’s all ages music venue, education center, and safe space for Seattle youth. We chose Vera as our nonprofit beneficiary because it’s an organization with roots that run deep Seattle music and Smokey Brights. For the last six years, Kim has served on the Board of Directors for The Vera Project and both she and Ryan grew up going to shows in its hallowed halls.

If you’ve been listening to KUOW’s incredible podcast
Let the Kids Dance (soundtrack by Kim and Ryan NBD!!!), you’ve heard all about the disastrous effects of Seattle’s Teen Dance Ordinance and the critical role The Vera Project has played in keeping the music alive in Seattle. We are so thrilled that, beginning on May 15th, anytime you stream or purchase Smokey Brights music, you’ll be helping to support all ages music in Seattle.

About Share It Music:

Music is a collective experience. It requires musical artists to write and perform. It requires an audience for it to be appreciated and supported. And it requires a community to value it and recognize its importance as a fundamental form of artistic expression. In recognition and appreciation of that collective experience, proceeds from projects released by Share It Music are routinely split between the musical artist, the record label, and a community organization of the artist’s choice.

About The Vera Project:

The Vera Project is an all-ages nonprofit space dedicated to fostering personal and community transformation through collaborative, youth-driven engagement in music and art. A music venue, screen print shop, recording studio, art gallery, and safe space for radical self-expression, VERA is a home to Seattle’s creative community.
